Western Red Cedar (WRC) is a conifer from the cypress family, native to the West Coast of North America. Its Japanese nickname, “American Cedar,” comes from its similarity to sugi (Japanese cedar). Among Indigenous peoples, it’s known as the “Tree of Life”, and has long been used for canoes and totem poles.

Naturally resistant to decay and insects, WRC is also lightweight and easy to work with, making it ideal for exterior applications such as siding, decking, fencing, and roofing. Its fragrance, rich color, smooth texture, and excellent stability also make it a highly valued material for interior use.
